How many of you really thought about the political and philosophical implications of your choice during Deus Ex's endgame? After the Majestic 12 conspiracy is foiled, you have the responsibility of establishing the world's new power structure. What is your ideal state? Should you cripple the monolithic governments and give people the opportunity to rebuild democracy? Should you join the Illuminati and replace Majestic 12 with a new shadow oligarchy? Should you merge your knowledge of human nature with Daedelus' logic and intelligence, creating the ultimate Platonic philosopher king? Essentially, you must choose between the three most basic forms of government that humans have developed: rule by all, rule by few, or rule by one. Of course, the choice is not quite that simple in Deus Ex, just as it never is in real life. Each option, in addition to its own consequences, carries with it serious social and moral consequences that must be taken into account when you make your final decision. I will examine each option from my own perspective and choose which, in my opinion, will result in the best possibly situation for the world.
